This is my first prize drawing (done in the inside cover to my 2008 sketchbook) for three winners of my Fan Art Contest.

This one goes out to *Keliane who made an awesome little video posted over at YouTube. Kelli asked me for a drawing of Nathan Hale, and when I think about him, I always picture him talking or reading. But I mostly draw him talking in the comic, so I took this opportunity to draw the other side of him.

Even when he was stationed outside of Boston during the seige (75-76) his army diary records that Captain Hale spent many days just like this: nose in book.

I've always loved the American Revolution (for obvious reasons, being American and all...) but I've never done a lot of research outside of school on it. (this has suddenly changed as I finally got my Dallas library card yay!) and I'm getting far too attached to Nathan through your art. I always had a respect for the man, but he's just so adorable in your work... I'm going to cry when you have to kill him.... that's the only thing I hate about historical fiction peices....

lol, poor Nathan... everyone assumes he's about to die. Bea is in the equation, though...! So who knows! ^^; Actually, the winner of last years fan art contest was a fanfic about Bea trying to save Nathan Hale and... it was brilliantly written. I read it and thought, "Yup, that's exactly what she'd do" lol. It was very in character for her.

So true! Gotta love rewriting history, right? I did that once in a fanfic on Les Miserables with the Les Amis boys... very much fun changing history, but then you've got to figure out just how much it would change it. Everything has an effect...

Hmm... is her story posted on fanfiction.net? I'll have to go about tracking that down.

Also, I was going to ask you, before I forget, about your Nathan Hale short story you have on your site. Is it just a story or is it a comic?

It's just a story, with an illustrated cover.

As for her fan fic, hmm... I don't know *where* it's posted in all honesty. :(

I went ahead and bought it off of your site. Twice, by accident, but that's okay. Your work is well worth paying for.

I think I found it on the archives of your dreamer site. It was a beautiful little story, but I really hope that you change history for your story. Otherwise I'm going to cry.

I saw that-- would you like a refund? Or I could send you a link to the story you didn't buy. Let me know!

No worries. It can just be a donation to your awesome story. :) You're an amazing artist and author, and you deserve that and much more for your hard work.
