Since Colonel Thomas Knowton got a standing ovation here on DevaintART this week, I thought that this would be a good follow up piece. Meet sixteen year old Private Frederick Knowlton, Thomas Knowlton's oldest son who fought as a private in Knowlton's Rangers. The Rangers were named after his father not himself--a fact he's well aware of. Frederick spends his time in awe of the older men he serves with and tries his best to blend in with them. Alas, the ability to grow facial hair might help with that! Oh he's so cute I want to pinch his cheeks.

I found out about Frederick in a huge reference book I've been reading called the Battle of Brooklyn, 1776. I got a lot of good material on Knowlton's Rangers in that book, but I must say that Frederick was my best discovery. I had been suffering writers block on Issue #4, and when I found out about Freddy I had an 'ah ha' moment, and put him into the script and it all came together.

I just love him now. He gets Alan out of a sticky situation in Issue #4, so it's a good thing he was around.
