So, tomorrow, on March 29th, ~sojourn78 and I will have been married five years! I’m super crazy excited, because, well, you know, I’m super crazy in love with this cutie pie.
I used to draw Mike all the time when we were dating, but I honestly can’t remember the last time I did. I’m sure he’s getting tired of all the crazy Alan/Nathan carrying on that goes on around here, so I decided to do a portrait of him to commemorate our big accomplishment! This is just a quick drawing I did on Wednesday, with some digital paints under and over it. I think he looks Peter Parker a-dork-able.  Sometimes when he thinks no one is looking, Mike likes to take silly pictures of himself. This drawing was a combination of several such pics that I sneaked off his server. (Yes, we have two separate accounts on our Mac because we can’t agree on whether the dock should be kept on the left or the bottom. No, I’m not making that up.) Mike is my bestest friend in the whole universe. I love his baby blue eyes, among, uh, other attributes...!  If it wasn’t for this guy there would be no The Dreamer. He’s worked his butt off to make things happen so that I could quit my job, cut back on freelance and work full time on the web comic. He’s tolerated the fact that even though I work from home now, he sees me less than when I worked at an office. He endures long (one sided) conversations about the Founding Fathers and whatever audio book-of-the-day I’ve been listening to. He works all day, then comes home to build and maintain our website. And he’s put a lot of his hard earned cash into floating the bill for all the expenses that come with starting a new business.Aside from that, he’s my muse, if muses can be boys! A goof-ball of one, but we both love laughing like crazy, so his ridiculousness is appropriate. Alan certainly didn’t come strictly out of my imagination, he’s the sort of man I would want to marry... and did marry. And all of Alan’s best qualities have been borrowed from this guy. (Minus the Fabio hair!) In any event, I love you, Mike! Here’s to five more!! |

I agree w/ your wife 100%! When you're using Photoshop, your palettes on the left keep you from bumping it, but nothing keeps you from bumping it on the bottom of your document. SO. ANNOYING.
