I can't really tell which version I like better. The shading is fantastic on the black and white, but the colors are awesome here as well! I LOVE how the colors are so vibrant towards the top of the piece and turn more muted as your eyes travel down the page.
This looks absolutely beautiful! The red/orange hues seem to complement everything wonderfully. I really like the "sketchy" look to the colours as well, like there's a bit of pencil shading under everything. And the different expression and profiles add a nice, expansive feel to it.
Thanks...! There's a textured layer over everything that gives it that rough dirty feel in the colors. Believe it or not, the background is just a really cheesy rainbow gradient I made up in 2 seconds in Photoshop!
I ended up commenting a lot later than I thought I was!
Anywho, colors turned out amazing!! I love the subtleness of it and how it looks all vintage-y, kinda like it was watercolored or something
But every time I look at Ben, I keep thinking that he's gonna get dress coded because at my current high school, you're not allowed to have facial hair.... or about a million other hilarious things, lol
ah ha ha ha! Boys can't grow facial hair...? what the-! when I was in high school you had to have a belt around your pants because the fad was to wear droopy pants and have your butt hanging out, lol. But they never regulated facial hair. Ben must go to a pretty cool school. ^^
Hahaha, yeah, this is the first school I've been to (or heard of) that outlaws facial hair XD Unless it's "for your religion" but... Oh, they have that pants rule here too, if you can see their underpants, that is o.o There's also dress codes for no facial piercings, no unnaturally colored hair, no mowhawks over two inches... and I just learned this one today... Seriously, they made at least two or three guys shave their heads for this: No mullets. What?? lol
