Yesterday was September 22nd, which marks a pretty significant day in the life of The Dreamer's favorite patriot, Captain Nathan Hale. I worked on this all day, but by the time we got it up on the website it was too late so I figured I'd post it today. A day late, I'm sorry!
In any event, this is the new Donations Incentive Wallpaper for my webcomic, The Dreamer! A Revolutionary tale about a high school girl who starts dreaming about the past. A lot of you have been asking for a Nathan Hale wallpaper, and well, I thought it was a pretty significant time of year to give you such a thing.
I don't know how Nathan Hale delivered his famous last words, but when I was thinking about it this week, I thought that maybe, just maybe, he wasn't so entirely peaceful and calm as he's always depicted. Anyway, The Dreamer is a comic book, and George Washington has his comic book entrance into the story, so I think Nathan Hale might need a comic book death.

Love your work. When I found out about Nathan's fate I was all: "Wait, he-what? WHAT? OH COME ON! I was upset. Though I probably should have reconized the name from learing about the war. xD
Fantastic comic, and I'm certainly hooked!! Just one question: Please explain the birthmark/blotch/scar tissue on Nathan's right forehead. I couldn't find anything on Wikipedia or any of the other few sites I quickly checked that mentions this sort of thing. I realize that Wikipedia isn't isn't all that completely accurate, but since no portrait of him was never made, and all we have to rely on is several verbal descriptions, no one really seems to know exactly what Nathan Hale looked like. I would think something as significant as the birthmark or scar tissue would've been mentioned (unless I hadn't run across it yet).
Even so, thanks again for creating this wonderful comic. Patriots come in all forms, from every walk of life, and you seem to show great love for our country and its history in your work. That's patriotism as far as I'm concerned.
Yeah, once I thought about editing Nathan's Wikipedia page because it was jacked up (so is Joseph Warren's) but I figured someone would mess it up again so I never did.
You can find some decent material on Nathan Hale on the internet, but you really have to dig deeper if you want to find the good stuff. The Connecticut SAR has a great Nathan Hale page, and you can find a link to it on my website. A couple of really great essays are on there. Anyway, Nathan Hale had a powder-burn on his forehead that his childhood friend and manservant while he was in the army, Asher Wright, described after his death. He said it was on Hale's forehead and that anyone who ever met him would recognize him instantly. So it must not have been subtle. He also had a big mole on his neck where a hangman's noose knot would go, and kids teased him about it when he was young.
8 months and yet... just one night in Dreamer time. lol! I had a flamer leave a comment once that said The Dreamer was the slowest comic in the universe and they couldn't understand what all the hype was about. It was 2 years of story and it took place in a few days of Bea's life. lol, I guess that's true. I try to keep the story moving, though, even if the dates don't change very often.

Hope that helps. Glad you're enjoying my story!
Flamers are so stupid. They can't accomplish anything of their own so they just beat around people who do.
