So, my friend Liz is teaching me to drive stick. We had to cut the lesson short, so she called me afterward to have our post-first-lesson debriefing. I, uh, hate talking on the phone for the most part. And if I am doing so, like to a friend I can't see in person, I'm almost always, guaranteed, doing something else simultaneously. Because I get fidgety. Exhibit A. I did this little doodle in Photoshop while talking about 1st & 2nd gears, clutches, etc.
Maybe I'll move this over to scraps, but I dunno, if you put something in scraps no one ever sees it. So, uh, why put it up at all?
Anyway, this is seriously unimpressive. But meet Ebenezer Warren--another of Alan's four cousins. I've never drawn Eb until today, in this quick lil sketch, so I was excited to finally be able to say, "that's him!!"
Eben Warren is one of Dr. John's big brothers. [link] (John is the baby.) Anyway, Ebenezer is the third of Mary Warren's four boys... and Alan's best friend. He's hard to find information on, since his service during the Revolutionary War didn't involve hospitals, amputations, military careers, or martyrdom. Instead, he stayed home and with his big brother Samuel, took care of his mom, the farm, and his brother's 4 kids. I think he eventually moved to Watertown and held some sort of office there, but again... I've had trouble finding out much info on him.
Which means, of course, I can have as much fun with him as I want! In my Revolutionary War webcomic, The Dreamer, Ebenezer is only 1 year older than Alan, and the two, having grown up in the same house together, are best friends. I have so many great fun scenes I wrote between the two of them. This little sketch comes from one such moment when Alan is home in Roxbury on leave from the military. Eben makes a snide comment, dripping with innuendos, about Alan's afternoon with the neighbor girl. To which Alan gets annoyed, seeing as how he came over to discuss something far more serious than all that. Ha ha, I think grumpy Alan is cute. I've never drawn him so ticked off before.
Anyways, this is a rough one I know! One day I'll do a better drawing of Ebenzer Warren, because I love him so much.
Woah, I had no idea which Warren was which until I read the artist comment XP I didn't consider the fact that they have different skin tones, hair color, and outfits. And that Alan's the one with a gun XP As long as they don't dress the same or have the same expression, I think I'll be good whenever we see the two together next ^^ Alan looks pretty mad here xD I wish I knew the entire scene. Also, did you base Ebenezer off a celebrity? He looks familar...
Yes! Make it happen. How old is John, if he's the youngest? And you shouldn't say that you're not good, because, compared to me, you're the best artist in the world!! lol.

I actually have really wanted to do that. I guess I need to make it happen...!
Oh and if Nathan looks young it's cause, uh, 21 year olds do look really young to me. ha ha. I'm almost 30!
..oh, and Alan & Bea's exact age difference is revealed in the thanksgiving story I wrote...
