Aww man, that is the perfect expression, stance, everything for him. I hate Hamilton so much I've begun to really love him. XD While he's not my favorite, I must say I find Hamilton to be by far the most interesting founding father, whatever his politics and, uh, private affairs were. His first appearance in the comic is definitely one of my favorite scenes. You capture his personality wonderfully, right down to the "Captain Fancy-Pants" attitude. I can't wait for more!
ha ha, he was a flirt, that was sure! With his sister-in-law, in front of his wife. O.o He also was the subject of the first major American political sex-scandal. When the news came out, he didn't deny it, instead, he described all the sordid details in the newspaper--"here is how we met, here is how I sent my wife and kids away so they wouldn't know, here's exactly how our meetings went down, here is how she & her husband were blackmailing me but I still didn't break off the affair." Bizarre stuff. He was more concerned about claims that he had embezzled US Funds as the Treasurer. Basically his stance was: YES, I cheated on my wife. BUT I DID NOT STEAL US MONEY.
At the end of his career, he also wanted the US army to conquer the state of Virginia. O____o;; And then Mexico and the rest of Central America.
I think we admire Hamilton from afar today, based on his achievements. But read about him from his contemporaries, and I don't have much doubt that it would've been possible for Burr to truly hate him completely.
O God, xD The last page of the comic was absolutely wonderful! It made my friends (who are his total fangirls) squeal! Actually, it made me squeal as well! He /would/ say something like that! By the way, I LOVE the way you draw him! I must go before Jer drools over the keyboard. >_>;
OooooooooooooOOOOOoooohhh, if someone made such a dashing entrance as that to me (referring to the last page of your comic that I just read where AH appears), I think I'd start grinning like an idiot! Oh wait, I'm already doing that...haha!
And since I can't leave comments on your comic itself, I simply must point out what a stellar job you did on your most recent pages. Bea's Bug looks fantastic (I'll bet you drive one of those!!), and when she answers the door, everyone's clothes (ESPECIALLY that brown leather jacket!) look almost real!
He's so perfect! I love Alex more than words can describe. I want one of those continental uniforms. <3
As for his gingerness:
I've heard him described as having every conceivable hair color, but I always draw him blonde, partially because his military record says he was blonde and partially because it contrasts nicely with Jefferson's coloring.
I've always wondered if he was tan and his hair was lighter when he first got here from St. Croix during his college years. I mean... if you grow up a poor boy out in the sun in the Caribbean... ? Who knows.
I love him. I love you for letting him into the glorious work we mere mortals call "The Dreamer". Hammy looks smokin'. I love both versions of him...I'm happy that the freckles stayed! There are not enough words to express my deep love for Alexander Hamilton. But I have a question...why were all the major founding fathers gingers? I adore red hair, but I always found it strange...
I always thought it was weird too! Washington, Jefferson, Hamilton. But I guess they all had white hair after you powdered it. The thing that's weirder about it is that red hair was unfashionable during that time~!
