So the *HistoryFashionLovers club is having a "Born in the Wrong Century" contest, where you're supposed to draw what you would be doing if you were born in the *right* century. Okay, I'll be honest, I love the 18th Century, but we horribly romanticize the past and I actually believe that I was born in the right century. (Am I going to get kicked out of the club??) Cause... I really, really appreciate things like being able to vote, have a career, own property, and, uh, wear pants without being tried as a witch! Not to mention how much I appreciate things like the end of small pox, polio, slavery, the reform of prisons and the treatment of the mentally ill, etc, etc, etc. (I will concede that the Constitution was so much purer back then..!)
In any event, the premise of the contest is fun, so you know, my answer of course is THE LATE EIGHTEENTH CENTURY AMERICA, HUZZAH! And what would I be doing? Well, fan girling Thomas Jefferson, of course! Background photo is manipulated from an image from Monticello.org. (Oh, and all you TJ lovers out there, we so need this: [link] )
I have no photos of my own from inside Monticello, because they only allow you to photograph the outside. So... I had to lift one from their website. That's what they get for their silly prohibitions! I used Stephen Dillane as my TJ model because he's doing such a bang-up, delicious job as Thomas Jefferson on the John Adams mini-series.
Well, today is my birthday, so I went to Starbucks and drew two completely silly pieces I had been wanting to find time to do for a long time. This is the first one, the second I'll post whenever I have time to color it...
Yeah, those dudes back then were pretty awesome compared to today's regular guys. XD
TJ's expression is priceless.
